ARP-sponsored Speed Demon 715 Is Now the Fastest Piston-Engine Car On the Planet
George Poteet's legendary Speed Demon 715 has recently set a new piston-engine land pssed record on the Bonneville Salt Flats of 470.015 mph. This means that the only vehicles that have gone faster were jet-powered. It also earned a record 9th Hot Rod Trophy with a top speed of 481.576 mph for the fastest speed of the meet.
The Duttweiler-built big block engine uses all ARP fasteners to generate 3,156 HP for more the 65 seconds.
Car builder Maxwell Industries used ARP high-strength stainless fasteners in the frame, steering, suspension, intake and driver safety system.
ARP is proud to have played a part in pushing the boundaries of speed.

Speed Demon wins Hot Rod Trophy #6
If you weren't following the news from Bonneville this year, the Speed Demon Racing Team won the Hot Rod Trophy for the 6th straight year. This was a significant milestone for several reasons. First, this was the debut of the completely redesigned and rebuilt Speed Demon Streamliner. It was also the first time Speedweek had been run in three years, after rain left the course covered in water for two straight years.
The video below is from one of the runs on Wednesday and will give you some idea of what it's like to go over 400 mph. This Speedweek allowed George to add several runs over 400mph - his total of 37 is more than anyone else in world.

ARP Shows HOT ROD How a Bolt is Made
HotRod.com
Brandan Gillogly on July 6, 2015
Automotive Racing Products, better known as ARP (http://arp-bolts.com/), has made a reputation in the automotive industry for producing high-strength, high-quality studs, bolts, nuts, and just about every other fastener one might need to assemble an engine. ARP has several facilities in and around Ventura, California, where spools of steel wire are cut, heated, hammered, and rolled to make fasteners that far exceed the typical Grade 8 bolt you’ll find at your local hardware store. In high-performance applications where engines and components are taxed far beyond what the factory ever had in mind, having a fastener that applies the proper clamping load becomes even more critical. Because of the company’s expertise, ARP is contracted to build fasteners for the most demanding motorsports in the world as well as aerospace applications. We toured a couple of its facilities to see the manufacturing process from raw material to packaging.

Closer Look at Goodwin Competition’s 1,700 HP, 650ci Marine Engine

“It’s not meant to be a high-winding, high-strung engine,” says Evan Uerkwitz, an engine builder at Goodwin. “It originally was a clean-sheet design set up for large tractor pulling. We saw a niche in the market to change the product and use it...
